Creates 24-carat gold in Laboratory

An Extraordinary news : Iranian Researcher Creates 24-carat gold in Laboratory! (source:Sciencedaily) The bacteria in use is “Cupriavidus metallidurans” which turns a chemical compound into 24-carat gold, according to Dr Kazem Kashefi “ an Iranian assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at Michigan State University; Microbial Alchemy is what we’re doing – transforming gold from something that has no value; said Kazem Kashefi. Dr. Kashefi and his colleague Dr. Brown perform this 21st-century Alchemy using the special bacterium as they feed it gold-chloride — A liquid less expensive version of gold, to turn it into 24-carat gold! The result of this research is actually an Artwork, named "The Great Work of the Metal Lover". And it features a portable lab in which the bacteria produces gold flakes in front of a live audience! See the photo album for a piece of this Performance Art!
